Gemini AMPM is taking on one more apprentice in its service division: the engineers who maintain, test and fix fire detection, intruder, CCTV and access control systems for clients across Sussex, London and the South East. You will learn the trade from the van seat with a named Mentor, and the qualification through the Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technician Level 3 apprenticeship, with course intakes every four months. Start as soon as possible; no experience needed.

An apprentice with a kit bag beside a Gemini AMPM van outside the Burgess Hill unit

The work

  • Out with a qualified service engineer from week one: planned maintenance visits, fault-finding and small repairs on fire alarm, intruder, CCTV and access control systems
  • Real buildings: managed residential blocks, offices, schools, healthcare and industrial sites
  • A named Mentor on the AMPM Academy ladder, who is given the time to teach you properly
  • Day release or block release with a specialist training provider for the Level 3 qualification; manufacturer courses as you progress
  • Based at the Burgess Hill unit; travel with your Mentor until you are driving your own van
  • A job at the end of it: apprentices who serve their time here become service engineers here

What we're looking for

  • Sixteen or over. School or college leavers, and people switching trade, are both welcome
  • GCSE English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above, or the equivalent: a minimum for the course, not a nice-to-have
  • Reliable, curious about how buildings work, happy on your feet and up a ladder
  • A full UK driving licence, or a test booked and lessons under way. You will be driving a van by your second year, so this is a prerequisite for the job
  • Living within reach of Burgess Hill

Why here

Gemini AMPM is employee-owned: stay, and you own part of the company. The range on this page is basic salary, deliberately wide, because where you land in it depends on tickets, experience and patch; overtime, call-out and the van sit on top. Progression runs on the Academy ladder, and a human reads every application within three working days.

Tell us what you are worth: the target salary box on the form is there for a reason, and we would rather pay the market than pay an agency.
